YouTuber Drift0r calculated the possible size of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's battle royale map, which is said to be 1,500 times the size of Nuketown. The conservative estimate? 4.5 square kilometers, slightly less than Fornite: Battle Royale’s map. No word yet on how many players though..

I’m guessing 50 players.

It would be nice if they could figure out how to get 100 players on their engine at a locked 60 on consoles but their engine is decrepit and in need of total replacement honestly. The core of the engine is still built upon Quake 3 which is over 20 years old at this point.

It’s incredible that they’ve been able to modify IW engine for the past 12 years to make passable looking games that run well, but now there’s unreal engine running 100 player multiplayer games on phones which shows that modern engines are far more scalable.
