There have been rumors of Ubisoft porting the excellent Wii U launch title ZombiU to other platforms for a while, but now it’s official: Zombi (no more u!) arrives digitally on August 18.

Ubisoft dropped a trailer online this morning:

It looks like...ZombiU. That’s not a bad thing, mind you, since ZombiU was not only a terrific showcase for what made the Wii U unique, but it was wonderfully intense zombie game, too. In the Wii U version, inventory management happened on the GamePad, and there was no way to pause the game, so switching items or healing meant you opened yourself to imminent death.

Obviously, these versions won’t have GamePad support, and it’s not clear how Ubisoft has (or hasn’t) modified the game. The trailer is full of busted up zombie heads, but light on details. We won’t have to wait very long to find out the rest, though! I cannot wait to play this game again!

Make sure to read Stephen Totilo’s review of the original game!

Wait a minute!!!! 9/10 from Eurogamer?!? They’re using the WiiU version’s score to advertise this different PS4 and Xbone version?

The WiiU version extensively uses the gamepad to manage inventory, display mini map, the touchscreen is used for context sensitive actions, and the gyro motor to scan things in 3D space.

All those above contributed to Eurogamer giving it 9/10, Ubisoft cannot use this score to advertise the PS4 and Xbone version. While they can use the DS4’s touchpad and gyro to replicate some of the WiiU’s features on the PS4 version, it is still a considered a completely different game entirely, not to mention Xbone is completely lacking any touchpad and gyro controls.

And shame to Ubisoft for not trademarking this as both Zombi4 and ZombiOne!!! They will sell more copies if the game is actually named both of that, don;t you think?!
