Vampire yakuza, minigun-toting trucks, a guy in a flying fuzzy frog suit... Sounds like Miike Takashi all right.
Miike, of course, is the filmmaker behind such movies as Ichi the Killer and Audition.
Gokudo Daisenso (極道大戦争 ) or roughly translated, “The Great Yakuza War” is an upcoming movie from director Miike Takashi that’s about... it’s about... Fuck me, it’s a Miike Takashi movie. That’s as good as a description one can hope for.
Subtitles: Toshi Nakamura
“Yakuza-ism” is apparently a form of contagious infection. Okay, I’ll bite. Knowing Miike, it’ll probably be weird and entertaining. Plus it’s got Yayan Ruhian from The Raid and The Raid 2 in it looking predictably badass.
Gokudo Daisenso open in theaters in Japan on June 20th. Hopefully, it’ll probably get a release in the West in some form or another.
Because, this.
