We're Taking Nominations for Sunday Comics’ Newest Strip

We may earn a commission from links on this page.

As you may have noticed, we've been down a comic in our Sunday Comics lineup ever since Rooster Teeth closed in August.

I could have just filled it in with any of the submissions we frequently get from webcomic authors, but remembering how this feature was conceived, and given that everyone has such strong opinions on the weekend funnies, this really should be your collective choice. So we're going to have a one-strip playoff similar to how we ran last year's remake of the page.

In the comments below, please provide any suggestions for a webcomic you think should join our Sunday Comics feature. We'll consider everything, but here are a few guidelines for what qualifies as a worthy webcomic:

• It is gaming-themed or, at least, frequently discusses subjects of interest to gamers.

• It is regularly updated. I can't stress this enough.

• We didn't have size restrictions the last time because our design was a little more accommodating than the gallery we now have to use. This time, however, I'm going to give a lot of weight to comics that are not floor-to-ceiling, length-of-the-page serials. Nothing against those comics, but they are thumbnailed in our gallery in a way that doesn't serve them or the reader.

• It should be, of course, well illustrated and reasonably funny, but not everyone is going to agree on these tastes.

After I round up several nominees we will begin a poll this coming Saturday. Voting will be open for a week, then I'll declare a winner and add it to the lineup.

Inclusion in the Sunday Comics remake will depend on more than just voting. First, we must get the creators' permission to republish their strips (we'll be contacting the winner after voting ends). We also reserve the right to exercise final editorial judgment on the inclusion of any new feature.

Rest assured, your suggestions, and your fellow commenters' support for or comments on them, will figure in heavily. With that in mind, in the gallery above are two strips whose creators have emailed me since Rooster Teeth went dark. They will be included as nominees when the voting begins next week.

Thanks again, and thanks for helping to make Sunday Comics such a well read feature.
