Warning: this post has spoilers for last night’s South Park. So it turned out South Park‘s entire Black Friday trilogy—three episodes of Game of Thrones-style warfare waged over the Xbox One and PS4—was just one big set up for South Park: The Stick of Truth Amazing. Check out the clip above for what will presumably…

Toys in 1984 Kinda Sucked

We take a lot of what we have today for granted: Fancy toys, giant TVs, new consoles. So often, we forget just how much holiday gifts used to suck. The video above, taken from ABC News 29 years ago, shows exactly how much cooler a lot of the dumb stuff we own is. The toys…

Final Fantasy VIII is on Steam starting today, Square Enix just announced. It’s going for $11.99, and it comes with an optional cheating tool called Magic Booster and the mini-game Chocobo World.

3K Gaming Laptops Are Here. Right Now.

Gaming laptops have been stuck at 1080p and under for far too long. That all changes with the release of MSI’s GT60 gaming laptop, with a display panel that goes all the way up to 2880-by-1620. Also available in workstation flavor, the gaming version of the GT60 is being referred to by MSI as the…

Square’s Going All Out For The Final Fantasy X/X-2 Remakes

Here are a bunch of new trailers for the upcoming HD remakes of sports sim Final Fantasy X and pop star emulator Final Fantasy X-2, which will be out for PS3 on March 18 (and Vita at some point in the undetermined future, unless that version is mysteriously cancelled.) They’re looking good. Certainly better than…

Here’s what’s going on Talk Amongst Yourselves, our reader-written blog: Stormborn isn’t only making Super Mario Brothers characters look cool in his redesign series. He’s making the levels and tertiary assets look awesome, too. J*Rod shares a Star Wars remix of “Bohemian Rhapsody” that’s got some Force to it. And Dear Video Game Expert offers…

Battlefield 4‘s one-hit-kill bug might be dying today on PS4. The delayed update due earlier this week has started rolling out for Sony’s next-gen platform. But DICE warns that this patch isn’t a total fix for some of the game’s other issues

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Trailer Is Way Too Busy

Let’s see, we’ve got emo Harry Osborne, mecha-Rhino, Jamie Foxx as blue raspberry Electro, and Andrew Garfield’s hair. That’s far too many villains for one movie. Did we learn nothing from the lesson of Spider-Man 3? There is far too much going on in this trailer — I can only imagine the chaos that will…

Is this… The Valvengers? The Hulk, Hawkeye, Iron Man, Nick Fury, Black Widow, Captain America and Thor (poor Thor) all transformed into Valve characters. With the Scout and the Soldier from Team Fortress 2 and a zombie from Left 4 Dead, teaming up with Gordon Freeman, this team probably wouldn’t function smoothly. Dayshot is an…

100 More Games in Steam’s Immediate Future, Including Space Minecraft

Well, if you wanna get technical, it’s not really space Minecraft. It’s more of a sci-fi sandbox RPG thing. But it’s pretty darn close. Apart from phr00t’s Space Minecraft 3089 there’s a whole bunch of other quirky and interesting titles in Steam’s latest batch of nearly one hundred community-approved Greenlight games. There’s a shoot-em-up starring…

Confusing U.S. Military Lingo Explained

Before Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 made “Oscar Mike” (“on the move”) famous, I confess that I’d never heard the expression before. But that’s just one phrase in a rich vocabulary of U.S. military slang. Website Global Post has a glossary of military terms, some of them appearing within the last decade, some of…

Spencer Yip of Siliconera teamed up with a Sesame Street writer and a Simpsons animator to create a nice educational iOS game of their own: Nomnoms: Math Universe. As you might guess by the name, it has to do with adorable creatures, space, and math. Yes, math. Check out the trailer here

Galactic Princess Is A Space Game You Need To Keep An Eye On

Galactic Princess asks you to venture into space to rescue a princess. It’s not what you’re doing that sounds cool, it’s how you’re doing it. You have to design and build your ship, taking into account real physics. You need to hire a crew. You need to expand, you need to fight, you need to…

I’d Have Killed A Man To Go To Gran Turismo 6’s Launch

I’ve had a tumultuous relationship with Gran Turismo over the years. I used to love it. Then I hated it, bored of how sterile and lifeless it had become. Now…I appreciate it for what it is. I’ve got Forza for when I want to get behind a car and go “WWWAAHAHHHHAHAHHAH”. For those times I…

It’s been a great/good/terrible year for movies, depending on what you actually saw and how picky you are. Shame this isn’t for Sucker Punch 2. 2013 Movie Trailer Mashup…

Official The Simpsons LEGO Is Coming. Here’s A Look.

It may have taken decades longer than it probably should have, but official Simpsons LEGO is on the way. And while the Danish toy giant has yet to release its own promotional images of the line, which is due in early 2014, pics of some minifigs have begun leaking out a little early. Nice shots…

A History Of Movie Archers, From Robin Hood to Katniss Everdeen

In video games, it’s been the year of the bow for almost two years now. But games aren’t having all the fun – movies have been right in the thick of it. In fact, recent films like Brave and The Hunger Games have carried on a long Hollywood tradition of bows, arrows, bowstrings and arrowheads.…
