Throwback to the Future with Tecmo Bowl

One of the most appealing things about Tecmo Bowl Throwback, which released yesterday, is the ability to switch between the 3D view and retro 16-bit view during a play. It may look like promotional video, but it's live.

We had a little fun last night updating an Internet meme with the game's new celebration animations. Here's the video from which that still was taken. You change the video mode with the right bumper; here I did it on my way into the end zone with, of course, Thurman Thomas (whom I edited into the game's Buffalo roster.) You can see both versions' celebrations.

And if that doesn't amuse you, here's Lawrence Taylor peeing on an injured Washington Redskin (Joe Theismann?) in the original Tecmo Super Bowl

pfft 1993 roster is fail. No Bo Jackson, no purchase! I'll just plug up my NES to my TV and unleash the Raiders if I get an itch to play Tecmo Bowl... and played without having to edit everything. Screw playing online

Bo Jackson over multiplayer
