The Quadruple-Double

Only four NBA players have recorded a quadruple double - double figures in four statistical categories in the same game. All but one were centers. None was a point guard.

Kotaku reader Sean took the Boston Celtics against Memphis in an Association mode contest, having recently completed a trade that, like in real life, sent Kendrick Perkins packing. In the first game with his new lineup, Sean went to Memphis and rolled up an easy 14 point lead at the half.

Rondo, however, had an unusually robust line - 12 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists, 6 steals. "I decided to go for the quadruple double. I started the third quarter with all of my starters in the game, but focused all of my game play through Rondo."

Taking over Rondo, Sean picked up his man each time he crossed halfcourt, throwing off the opposing offense, isolating the ballhandler and picking up easy steals and buckets. He had a triple double, but not the quad.

"At the start of the 4th, Rondo only needed 3 rebounds to complete the legendary feet. This was not too hard to achieve as I kept Rondo back off his man, and put in a rather small lineup of back ups, which allowed Rondo to get easy defensive rebounds," Sean writes. Rondo bagged the feat with four minutes left, and the Celtics went on to win.

There is no achievement or trophy for a quadruple double. There are ones for a triple double, and one for getting two teammates to record double-doubles. Wonder if Sean got those? Here's the box score:
