Nintendo boasted this morning that it has moved over 100 million Nintendo DSs to dual-screen hungry consumers, an impressive sales feat that few portable game devices can claim. It's also sold some software.

While Nintendo didn't brag about the total number of Nintendo DS games that have been sold for its current handheld, it did point out that there have been 83 games for the system that have cross the million mark. What's more, Nintendo revealed that seven of those 83 games have sold in excess of 10 copies each. That's as of December 31, 2008, for the record.

So.. which games?

Sales chart followers probably won't be surprised by the titles that have gone "platinum" ten times over. The elite DS sellers include chart mainstays New Super Mario Bros., Nintendogs, Pokemon Diamond & Pearl, Brain Age, Mario Kart DS, Brain Age 2, and Animal Crossing: Wild World, according to GameSpot.

Last month's NPD Group sales data shows that both Mario Kart DS and New Super Mario Bros. were still selling over 100,000 copies a month in the U.S. alone. While sales of these titles have slowed in Japan over recent months, many continue to appear in the top fifty bestsellers overseas.

If there's any justice in this world, we expect the North American release of Rhythm Heaven to propel the title into the 10 million seller crowd—the title is approaching 2 million units sold in Japan. Make it happen, America!
