Tempest 4000 heads to PS4 and Xbox One on July 17. The modern reboot of the original Atari game by creator Jeff Minter’s Llamasoft studio is supposed to stay true to the arcade classic while adding 4K graphics, new modes, and leaderboards so we can be reminded how terrible our personal scores are.

Tempest is one of my favorite games of the arcade era. But you know what’s almost always missing from the experience?

An actual spinner controller!

I’ve owned Tempest 2000 for the Sega Saturn, I own Tempest x3 for the PS1 as well as the original for Atari Vault on Steam....as well as Space Giraffe :). And they mostly just make me wish for a proper spinner.
