Take-Two Mum On Plans To Get A Slice Of Used Sales

Take-Two Interactive, the publisher of 2K Games, 2K Sports and Rockstar Games, has told investors it's working on a way to "participate" in the used-games market but was tight-lipped about what specifically it has in mind.

In sports titles, what we've seen this year is the arrival of one-use codes that unlock multiplayer features. The codes are free in retail copies, but cost $10 if you buy a used game with one that's already been redeemed. EA Sports was the first to announce such a system with its "Online Pass" but THQ was the first to implement it with May's UFC Undisputed 2010.

Barraged by investors asking what Take-Two planned to do, if anything, CEO Ben Feder told a conference last week that it was working on a way to "participate" in the secondary market, CVG reports. Pressed, Feder said: "We try to announce results and what the company's actually doing. We don't discuss what goes on internally. For sure, we think the used game market is large, it's an interesting market and something we should participate in. Beyond that I don't have much more to comment."
