Nintendo plans to introduce new gaming hardware in emerging markets, including China. "It would be difficult to enter those markets if we didn't create something new... For the mass market you need to provide something that most of the middle class can afford," president Satoru Iwata told Reuters.

The 13 year-old video game console ban was "lifted" late last year with the creation of the Shanghai Free Trade Zone. Since then, there have been revisions to the regulations on how the FTZ will be governed. Today, People's Daily reports that the regulations are now set and game consoles are okay for sale in China.
