The Marvel Cinematic Universe sickos are eating well this week. Not only did they get the first official trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, but Marvel is riding that wave into Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s premiere with one more trailer for the webslinger’s next film. It’s a look at Peter Parker’s future and also a bit of a recap of the character’s past since joining the MCU.
The first minute or so shows clips from the previous Spider-Man MCU movies—Homecoming, Far From Home, and No Way Home—as Peter reads a letter he wrote for MJ but never actually gave to her at the end of the last film.
When all the reminiscing is over, we finally see Peter in his current apartment, doing whatever a spider can without his support system since they’ve all forgotten he exists. But he’s still fighting baddies, cyberstalking MJ and Ned as he yearns for his old life, and meeting up with Bruce Banner to learn about his evolving spider powers. He also will be fighting Bruce’s better half, as we see the two duking it out once the Hulk comes out of hiding. There’s a sick shot of the big green guy dragging Spidey down the side of a building and I hope Peter doesn’t just swing away to safety because I’d like to watch them duke it out.
Brand New Day is coming to theaters on July 31, and fans are trying to suss out what the ending is going to be based on some tantalizing comments from actor Tom Holland. Whatever happens, hopefully it will explain the character’s apparent absence in Doomsday.
