Silent Hill Music Man Akira Yamaoka's Favorite Songs

Composer Akira Yamaoka, perhaps best known for his moody musical contributions to Konami's Silent Hill series, wants his own funeral to be scored by Ennio Morricone's "Ecstasy of Gold," one of the game composer's five favorite songs.

Yamaoka, now at No More Heroes developer Grasshopper Manufacture, tells Nintendo Life that the memorable tune from The Good, The Bad and The Ugly is his number one choice for his funeral soundtrack. "While there's sorrow in the song, there's also a certain resolve that offers the listener the strength to shake off that sadness," he says.

The remaining four songs on Yamaoka's list range from the dancey electronic punk of D.A.F.'s "Der Mussolini" to the more obviously influential, like Craig Armstrong's "Amber." It's all worth a listen if you enjoy the musical stylings of the man who made Silent Hill's soundtracks so memorable.
