These are those tiny posts you see scattered around the page with no image or headline. All of the details are there, along with links, but they don't waste our or our readers' time.

Though yeah, I'm with other folks, they just seem messy, and actually looks like the site is broken.(as my tweets to you will have shown :P)

Good idea, bad implementation.

I don't see what's so wrong with just adding a headline and being done with it. That's really the only difference between a 'quicklink' and a normal article.

Also kinda belittles those articles, its like 'We care so little we can't even be bothered to think of a headline for this', it may not be the intention, but its the message it puts out.
