It is too damn hot to do anything outside. I had to cancel a cookout last week because between humidity and sun, we’d have been grilling and hanging out in a heatwave that felt like it was nearly 100 degrees. And around the world, hot weather is making it very easy to go, “You know what, I’ll stay inside this weekend.” Thankfully, if you need some new games to play while hunkered indoors with a cool drink, PlayStation has just revealed July’s PS Plus games.
On July 1, PlayStation revealed this month’s selection of PS5 and PS4 games that will be available to all PS Plus subscribers across all tiers. These games will be available to add to your PlayStation library permanently starting on July 7. Once added, you can install them and play them whenever you want as long as you remain an active PS Plus Essential, Extra, or Premium subscriber. Here’s the list of games and what platforms they’re available on.

You don’t want to wait too long to grab these PS Plus monthly games, as they’re only available to grab for free until August 3. After that, a new batch of not-yet-announced games will be made available to subscribers.
The big star this month is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. But not the old MW3; this is the new game released in 2011. It’s not a great Call of Duty, but the multiplayer is still snappy and fast and will be flooded by new players, offering up some easy targets for vets and returning experts. Meanwhile, For the King 2 is a tactical RPG that I’ve been meaning to play and yet never find the time to do so. It looks neat. Will I finally play it now that it’s free on my PS5? Probably not. I mean, have you seen the rest of this year’s release schedule? Lastly, there’s Cross Code, an RPG from 2018 that former Kotaku writer Jason Schreier called “excellent.”
