Mega Absol ex Special Illustration Rare

I wasn’t blown away by this artwork, despite the pose of a Mega Absol on the ledge of a building being ostensibly very cool. It’s oddly flat, the lighting all over the place (shadows fall on the left of the building but the right of the Absol) and the background color rather insipid. It does nothing for me, is what I’m saying.

But clearly it’s doing something for plenty of other people, this SIR fetching a whopping $92 on the resale market. Yup, we’re in the 90s by the second card. Times be weird.

It’s a funny ol’ card, too. That Terminal Period attack requires your opponent’s card to have exactly 60 damage done to be used, which seems like quite the juggle. Claw of Darkness is far more exciting, doing 200 damage for just three Energy, and also letting you discard a chosen card from your opponent’s hand. But remember, you can pick up the regular version of the card for just 70 cents right now, and it works just as well in your deck.
