Oh man. Heisman Trophy? or Spike Video Game Awards? Heisman Effing Trophy? Or Spike Effing Video Game Awards? We have this problem every year. Actually, I'm going Spike, because the Heisman, unlike the VGAs, doesn't tell you what next year's big games will be.

Ostensibly an awards gala, the VGAs' biggest news value is in the first reveals of new titles, in between handing out the hardware to this year's. We can count on seeing more about the PS3 exclusive The Last of Us, a new title from Epic Games, and a BioWare game that's widely expected to be a Command & Conquer sequel.

That's in addition to trailers and teases for 2012 titles like Metal Gear Solid: Rising, Alan Wake Returns and Rainbow Six: Patriots.

We'll be carrying an embedded video feed from the show here on Kotaku, but here's an important reminder: If you're in the U.S. and have cable television like a civilized person, the VGAs will broadcast live wherever you are, regardless of what your local listings say. That means 8 pm EST/5 pm PST. So while you can follow along here on the site, you can see it bigger and better on your TV and not miss anything.

Your host tonight is Zachary Levi of NBC's "Chuck." Here's a list of all the awards and this year's nominees.
