NBA Jam Dev Just Wants Us All To Get Along

Trey Smith, the creative director for the recently released NBA Jam, would like to see a kinder, gentler gamer culture. "If the people of PAX ran the world, it would be a much better place," he told MTV Multiplayer.

Asked for "the biggest problem [facing] current games," Smith hit outat "the actions and attitudes of some of the gamers out there.

You know who they are. If they spent less time spewing ignorant hate on the boards and in online games, and more time rallying behind the great games they love and helping to build a thriving community that welcomes everyone that shows up to play with them - everybody wins. Nothing wrong with a little smack talk here and there, just wish gamers respected each other more.

Can't argue with that a bit.

Though NBA Jam is out on the Wii and coming soon to Xbox 360 and PS3 (and he and his team are now beefing up the content for that release), one wonders if he might also be saying this in defense of his EA Vancouver colleagues handling NBA Elite 11, delayed last week in part because of the merciless and negative reaction to its demo on message boards and in sports gaming communities.
