In My Hero Academia, protagonist Deku is a typical shonen hero: naive, brave, determined, and really, really corny. The voice actor behind Deku, Justin Briner, is a certified shitposter whoās been known to channel Dekuās whiny pleading for a laugh (with great power comes great responsibility, and even greater joke potential). Brinerās latest such foray involves a now-deleted Tweet and a streamer scandal.
Sykkuno, a popular livestreamer known for his gaming content and āwholesomeā personality, has been having a rough go of it lately as accusations that heād been unfaithful to his girlfriend reached a fever pitch, ultimately resulting in the YouTuber and his girlfriend releasing an apologetic statement on April 16. While one never knows how such apologies are going to be received by the public, Sykkuno almost certainly couldnāt have predicted that his statement would be as ridiculed as it has been, with Justin Briner even getting in on the action by reading Sykkunoās comments in a voice that sounds a whole lot like Deku.

The impression is archived by Dexerto, but Brinerās original post has since been deletedāmost likely due to backlash given the sensitivity of the subject. Brinerās original post was captioned ādid my best impression of the streamerā and, in a follow-up reply, Briner clarifies that the voice was not explicitly Deku, but a different twerpish character based on āthe strange streamer.ā Briner also says about the Sykkuno situation: āofc I don’t condone this, and we beat his ass in the sajam slam,ā referring to a streamer fighting game event.
Other than deleting the original post, Briner seems to be taking the situation in stride, cracking jokes about his āextremeā behavior being attributed to the cancellation of the Northernlion Super Cruise and being jailed for āhigh crimes against the internet.ā
ok Iām sorry, Iād never have been driven to these extremes if the northernlion super cruise werenāt cancelled

quick update from me – Iāve been sent to the prison where they send youtubers for high crimes against the internet, specifically the Weirdo Wing. I have much yet to learn from them.
Now Iām scheduled to be executed live at the next Mr Beast Games half time show. See you there!

For the record, the impression is really funnyāalthough Iām not convinced Dekuās the cheating type. But what do I know, I havenāt watched the anime.
