The embattled X-Man began with leaked footage in 2023 and it seems PlayStation's biggest exclusive of the year will have to weather one last online attack

The X-Men’s leading yellow clad berserker can take a lot of damage, but boy howdy is his game’s launch testing his resolve. It appears that in the final weeks leading up to the PlayStation 5’s biggest exclusive of the year, numerous clips of Marvel’s Wolverine have begun leaking online. This includes boss fights, unlockables and the final moments of the game. For fans it will turn the homestretch into a frustrating minefield of potential spoilers.

Marvel’s Wolverine follows the famed Canadian as he shreds through augmented Reavers, robotic Sentinels and the Hand to protect mutants. While friends and foes are traditionally mercurial for Logan, he’ll be joined by familiar faces such as Jean Gray, Sabretooth, Mystique and Lady Deathstrike.

Departing from Insomniac’s Spider-Man games, Wolverine’s adventure is a straightforward, level by level action game instead of an open world sandbox. It’s the same recipe that gave us the best X-Men game to date, 2009’s Origins, but the change has been a recurring angle for online detractors. As frustrated Insomniac staff have been forced to point out, haters hardly need specifics. Social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok reward hot air above all. Still, it seems that the campaign against Wolverine has been abnormally rough, intensified by controversial decisions from the parent company. This latest leak is merely heaped upon that pile.

While predated by a formal announcement for Insomniac’s own bespoke Marvel universe, the most thorough introduction to Wolverine was through a 2023 leak from the ransomware collective Rhysida. It kicked off a rocky road towards launch, embattled by the types who scrutinize polygonal jawlines, and now capping off with what appears to be full copies of the game circulating in the wild. It is unclear if the footage comes from retail copies breaking street date, promotional copies or digitally pilfered.

Clips of the completed game have begun to circulate through social media. While it’s kicked off a wide range of speculative plot point spoilers, I can confirm that the final minutes and credits roll of Wolverine has been leaked in full. It does not currently appear to be attached to any blackmail scheme like the 2023 leak, or the recent surreal Grand Theft Auto VI Cyberleek episode, but it provides Wolverine with one last, lumbering battle.
