Skyrim NPCs Finally Get A Holiday
Skyrim’s NPCs have been toiling through their clockwork lives like, well, clockwork since 2011. It’s time for a break. This mod programs a series of holidays into the game, occurring on certain days in the Skyrim calendar. There’s lore supporting them, and each holiday is a little different; some involve gathering in a town square…

The World’s Most Badass Tom Cruise Cosplay
Peter Kokis is a cosplayer and a sculptor. His suits aren’t made of spandex, cloth and fiberglass; they’re made of everyday household items that Kokis takes, shapes and somehow transforms into robots and suits of armour. His latest work pays homage to Tom Cruise in Edge of Tomorrow. While it may not be an exact…

Watch Dogs Will Be Blamed For Traffic Sign Hacking
The MS-ISAC, a group established to “improve the overall cyber security posture of state, local, tribal and territorial governments”, isn’t even waiting for people to hack traffic signs to blame it on video games. It’s getting out ahead of the trend. A recent report issued by the body, about a notorious “Saudi Arabian actor” who…

The Week In Games: Yeah, Right.
Enemy Front, How to Train Your Dragon 2, Blood of the Werewolf and AiRace Xeno. These are the games brave or stupid enough to think the week of E3 2014 is a good time to draw attention to themselves. Even the “Coming Soon” area of Steam, normally packed with potential indie gems, has largely avoided…

12-Inch Nathan Drake Figure Is… Argh! Spider!
The moment I opened Sideshow Collectibles’ Sixth Scale Nathan Drake figure from Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is the moment it stopped being a Nathan Drake figure. No, this is a creepy six-legged spider figure with a Nathan Drake accessory. WHAT IS IT? The figure is supposed to be the version of Nathan Drake made famous…

UncategorizedWe’re At E3. Wish You Were Here!
The Los Angeles Convention Center is covered in video game posters. It’s E3 time, everyone. Well, almost… I just shot a few pics and one video that you might like. Have a look! These are a couple of blocks away from the LACC: This is across the street from it. (Is she taking a Titan…

UncategorizedMinecraft Creator Debuts His Latest Creation, Cliffhorse
Technically his first commercial game since Minecraft took the world by storm, Markus “Notch” Persson’s Cliffhorse puts players in control of a horse near some cliffs. Well, hills mostly, but Hillhorse sounds silly. In fact the whole thing is a bit silly, just a bit of fluff tossed together in the Unity engine and announced…

UncategorizedI Will Buy Any Starship Lance Henriksen Wants To Sell Me
The commercial for Star Citizen’s MISC Freelancer may be fake, but the desire to buy is quite real, thanks to the reassuringly gravelly narration of Aliens actor Lance Henriksen. If I had a spare $125 to $180 to pledge towards a virtual ship, the Freelancer is the one I’d pledge it to. It’s dependable and…

UncategorizedHonest Game Trailers Vs. Mortal Kombat. Ready, Fight!
While I’d rather watch a documentary that followed the fabled fighting franchise from birth, through its awkward teenage years into adulthood, Smosh‘s Honest Game Trailer for Mortal Kombat will do in a pinch. With a new Mortal Kombat recently announced for 2015, now’s the perfect time to look back on a series that started strong,…

IGN Says The Last Guardian Has Been Cancelled. Sony Says It Hasn’t.
IGN is reporting that, according to “sources” privy to an internal Sony meeting last week, Sony’s The Last Guardian – long in development limbo – has been canceled. Only for Sony to come straight out and deny it. The IGN story reads: While many at IGN have been eagerly hoping for the appearance of The…

Kotaku ‘Shop Contest: The E3 2014 Decorating Committee: the Winners!
Last week I challenged the master image manipulators of our readership to design the E3 2014 signage they’d like to see. I guarantee what they’ve come up with is better than the real thing. Here’s what’s going on on the outside of the LA Convention Center right now, via Attack of the Fanboy: How boring.…
