What Those Items In Mario Kart 8 Are Really For
Mario Kart 8 is a great game. But like many great Nintendo games, there are certain things in it that seem to exist for no good reason. Or any reason, really. They’re just sort of…there. For something? Maybe? I have no idea. But man, those splashes of squid ink can really be irritating sometimes. Dorkly…

What It’s Like To Play Games When You’re Colorblind
The first time I realized my color blindness was affecting how I played games was back in 2004. EA was fresh off of MVP Baseball 2004 and was looking to improve on a game that I still hold as one of the best sports titles of all time. Their big addition for MVP Baseball 2005…

True Blood Finally Shows Why Louisiana Is Filled With Sexy Vampires
True Blood is a raunchy show about vampires and other supernatural beings. Its cast in turn contains many actors who were relatively unknown when the show first started in 2008, and are now regularly hailed as pinnacles of physical perfection. This is not hyperbole, particularly for some of the lead male actors. If you don’t…

UncategorizedThe Guardians Of The Galaxy Game Doesn’t Suffer Free-To-Pay Nonsense
A band of intergalactic outlaws with a noble cause, the Guardians of the Galaxy seem like the sort of group that doesn’t take any crap. Perhaps that’s why their mobile game doesn’t come with any. This is a game that takes your money and runs. After a string of Gameloft-developed Marvel movie tie-ins heavy on…

Kotaku EastWhen A Game Is This Pretty, Who Needs Golf?
On Green, a new online golf game was revealed today during a Korean media event. It’s running on CryEngine 3 so, besides the pretty environment, golf ball physics will probably be top notch as well. Neowiz Games released two trailers for the game, one with characters (they remind me of Dead or Alive for some…

Japanese Actor Refused To Pronounce “Godzilla” in English
In English, Godzilla is said as, well, “Godzilla.” But in Japanese, it’s said (and written) different: “Gojira” (ゴジラ). According to actor Ken Watanabe, who appeared in the latest Hollywood version, he was asked to pronounce the word in English—or, at least, somewhat like it’s said English. “I was told by the director to pronounce it…

Kotaku EastThis Horror Film Should Be Exciting, So Why Am I Bored?
Japan recently released the trailer for the live action Kiseiju (寄生獣) aka Parasyte movie. While seeing one of my favorite manga of all time brought to life on the big screen should give me a hard-on that could be seen from space, in reality, it didn’t. In fact, it had pretty much the opposite effect.…

This Might Be the Best Trollface of 2014
It’s July. We’re at the halfway point. I know. But it’s really going to be difficult to top Japanese flyweight Takuya Eizumi‘s trollface for this year’s best. As first noted by website Cage Potato and r/MMA, Eizumi unleashed this epic trollface after winning at a hybrid wrestling Pancrase 259 match last month in Japan. The…
