All of the art world is abuzz over Caveman Jesus, the kindhearted but totally incompetent "restoration" of a fresco in a Spanish church. Well, if the highway to Hell is paved with good intentions, we're the road striping crew. So come in and check out Mona Croft, Grand Theft Nighthawks, Hitman Gothic and overall winner MrEck0!
For starters, Crazy Uncle Nic, georgiemark_the_original, GiantBoyDetective, Pan_1da7, sciteach, toolsoldier and uscg_pa all went nuts, flooding this week's submissions with multiple entries each. It was hard to choose the best each sent in, and we have another rare occurence of two finalists getting two entries each.
As for the less prolific, but no less worthy finalists, iconoclast24 (9) paired hideous art with hideous box art for a winning result. Awbersa (2) did a stellar job bringing Snake to the Garden of Eden. AllThatJuice (1) was a little more subtle, but once you see the bald head and red tie, you'll get it.
CVVF (5) had the best of the Majora's Mask interpretations. Xbrav (20) turned in a crowd favorite. stopsignpeep (16) likewise delivered chuckles with a simple premise.
As for the repeat offenders, Crazy Uncle Nic (4) had a superb take on Nighthawks, a longtime video game favorite. georgiemark (6) eventually settled on the Mona Bayonetta. GiantBoyDetective (7) sent in an original mashup of The Tsunami and Wind Waker Link, before realizing that had been done by many before. But he made up for it here. Pan_1da7 (13) had a different interpretation of the same work. I loved SciTeach's Rayman Island (15) but couldn't boot out his Guitar Hero (14). Toolsoldier (17) worked his ass off on a Transformers Last Supper.
For overall finalists, I'll take uscg_pa, with the Mona Croft (19), and who wouldn't want to see Faith doing parkour in Marilyn Monroe's chiffon skirt? But my overall number one comes from MrEck0 (12), who perfectly captured the insane spirit of terrible art, in both video games and the real world. When you see it, you'll shit bricks.
