Today BioWare dishes out details on The Exiled Prince, the first installment of downloadable content for Dragon Age II that players get for free - as long as they preorder the game within the next four days.
The Exiled Prince, much like The Stone Prisoner downloadable content for the original Dragon Age, introduces players to a new character that will join the party for the remainder of the game, once his own personal issues are resolved. In this case the character is the noble archer Sebastian Vael, who joins the party in the midst of a quest to avenge his murdered family. Sebastian is the last surviving heir, and the player gets to choose whether to help him reclaim his title or direct his bow towards more pressing matters.
"Our goal for the Dragon Age II DLC is to extend Hawke's journey and the Dragon Age universe by introducing additional characters with meaningful storylines and intense, dynamic missions," said Mark Darrah, Executive Producer of Dragon Age II. "Not only will 'The Exiled Prince' allow players to experience Sebastian's powerful revenge story, but they will also be able to utilize him as a follower throughout Hawke's rise to power in Dragon Age II."
The Exiled Prince is part of the special Signature Edition of Dragon Age II BioWare announced last October. Players that preorder Dragon Age II before January 11 will secure the Signature Edition and The Exiled Prince in the process.
Those that miss the deadline can purchase the downloadable content on launch day for 560 Microsoft points. Think of it as a failure to preorder penalty; I know I am.
