Juan “Hungrybox” Debiedma has finally taken out top prize at EVO, winning 2016’s Smash tournament after beating Sweden’s Adam “Armada” Lindgren in the Grand Final.

Hungrybox, a killer Jigglypuff player, has often fallen short at EVO, coming 3rd, 2nd and 2nd in the past three years.

In an interview with PVPLIVE last month, Hungrybox said that despite a stellar past year, includingan emotional win at Dreamhack, he felt like Armada was “still unquestionably #1. I’ll give myself best in the US and #2 in the world, but I don’t think I’m the best yet.”
“I need to win Evo….if I win, then I can say ‘It’s official – I’m the best in the world.’ That’s a really big deal for me.”
