About Dispatch

Dispatch is a light, strategy, narrative-based superhero workplace game. It does not fit the standard superhero formula of flying around and destroying the bad guys. Rather, you are spending most of your time in a Los Angeles dispatch center, working with a team of misplaced heroes who were formerly villains. Given that his mech suit, Mecha Man, has been destroyed, the main character, Robert Robertson, is left to work as a dispatcher rather than a frontline hero.

The game takes place in the form of dialogues, decisions, and emergencies that appear in the city. You read a map, choose a hero to dispatch, and control their personalities, weaknesses, and skill improvements . It is a comedy as well as a story of management and an attempt to stay afloat with the team. The story is a bit different each time you replay the game because the story varies every time you talk and the missions you set. It is more about people, personality traits, and decisions than action or elaborate systems, which makes it down-to-earth but somehow disorganized.

Why Should I Play Dispatch?

And in case you enjoy games based on choices, where you see characters colliding, Dispatch takes it to the extreme. The comedy lies in the fact that the team is dysfunctional, and the heroes in it are not always known to each other, former villains now seeking to reform, and office politics that are nearly too realistic.

The decisions you make when talking and what you choose to accomplish on your mission also define the perception of these characters towards you. Even a few words spoken in the break room can come back to haunt you at a later time when there is an emergency. It is a combination of narration and little tactical choices; thus, nothing appears to be too heavy, but at the same time, makes one think about the outcomes.

The authors of Tales of the Borderlands and The Wolf Among Us worked on the story; thus, it has that combination of jokes, touching scenes, and plot twists. The cast is also enormous, and the voice actors are the famous ones who provide a personality to every character. It could be fun, provided you like narrative games that are not based on violence and have more character work and decisions. The feeling is that you are witnessing a chaotic office sitcom where you make the decisions that drive everything. It is simple to follow, simple to join, and the structure is such that it does not charge you with details of how it works.

Is Dispatch Free-to-Play?

No, Dispatch is not a free-to-play game. It is a premium title, and you receive all the episodes at once as the entire season has already been published. It does not involve microtransactions or additional passes, simply a one-time purchase in case you want to play the story to the end.

Where Can I Download Dispatch?

Dispatch is primarily downloaded via sites that sell PC games. The first choice is the most widespread one, Steam, in which the entire game can be purchased along with all of its episodes. Steam provides you with direct installs, updates, and community discussions in case you want to check the opinions of other players. The official site of the developer, ADHOC Studio, may also be checked as one of the additional links or news about the game, yet Steam is the easiest source to download the game.

The game is also available on storefronts with which publishers collaborate or in bundles, depending on your region. You only need to ensure that you are downloading from a reputable store where you acquire the appropriate version with support and updates.

What Games Should I Play If I Enjoy Dispatch?

Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical is a narrative game based on choice, in which each choice you make influences the plot of a fully voiced musical narrative. The world has become a contemporary fantasy land where Greek gods covertly exist among humans instead of heroes in an office. The whole game is composed of the stage performance, and the songs vary depending on your dialogue options. It combines role-playing and the interactive musical approach; therefore, the sound changes every minute depending on your mood, style, or direction. And when you are also an admirer of character-oriented stories but still in need of something more theatrical and emotional, then this one has quite a different but refreshing touch. If you want to try something this unique, you can always look it up and download it when you feel ready.

The Wolf Among Us transports you to a noir setting of New York, where fairytale characters are residing invisibly. You are a sheriff called Bigby Wolf, and you attempt to find solutions to the crimes and make decisions that influence the investigation and your relationship with the people around you. It is darker than Dispatch, it is heavier on mystery, and it is focused on hard-hitting choices. The mood is stylized, there are moments of tense atmosphere, and the text remains acute. In case you liked Dispatch because of the split-off storyline and the interaction between characters, this has a more profound and dramatic version of that formula. Many players still download it today just to revisit its atmosphere and branching moments.

Disco Elysium - The Final Cut is a narrative RPG centered virtually entirely on dialogue and making choices within. You are a detective who must not only solve a murder case but also a broken memory of yours. No battle of any kind is fought; all the action is done by rambling conversation, skill tests, and the internal monologue of your character disagreeing with you. It is philosophical, sloppy, and even ridiculous, and its world is filled with multifaceted characters and social satire. Compared to Dispatch, Disco Elysium is heavier and requires more time, but it provides a more complicated and immersive experience in terms of making choices that define everything. You can always download it later if you want something deeper and more reflective.
