Summary

Binxonia is a free multiplayer RPG that runs in a browser tab, with nothing to download or install. It’s a tribute to Ogre Island, the isometric browser MMORPG that launched in 1999. It keeps that game’s six attributes, its free stat points and its single shared world. The two games aren’t affiliated, and Binxonia was written from scratch.

Everyone plays in the same persistent isometric world, and combat happens in real time. You start as a Warrior, Archer or Mage, which sets your starting kit and how your stats lean. After that, each level gives you focus points to put into Strength, Dexterity, Endurance, Speed, Intellect or Magic however you like. Weapon skills level as you fight and unlock special attacks. Monster families resist some damage types and are weak to others, so it matters which weapon or spell school you bring.

Once you’re past the early levels, dying costs you. Your pack drops where you fell, and you get a window to run back for it before other players can loot it. Your belt, the gear you’re wearing and your bank stay safe. Some regions are lawless, meaning players can fight each other there, and the leaderboards track PvP kills.

Away from combat, you can mine ore, chop wood, shear sheep, fish and gather herbs. Then you can smith weapons, armor and tools, make armor from hides, carve bows, cook, write warp scrolls and enchant gear with gems. Every craft rolls a quality, and a piece can carry its maker’s name. You trade with other players directly or on the Exchange, a market that matches buy and sell orders.

You can also join parties and guilds (a guild’s treasury pays for a shared vault and hall), buy a horse, call a squire from a horn to fight beside you, and earn passage on the ferry to Ogre Isle.

Binxonia is in early access, so expect bugs, missing features and character wipes. It’s free to play, and Platinum, a premium currency, is optional.
