Every now and then, you just want to leap around and blast some robots. Exodemon is a first person shooter that channels some of the best old school classics to create a stunning shooting gallery. It’s this week’s Indie Pick.
Designed by Brazilian studio Kuupu, Exodemon is a real treat to play. Dashing about with a laster blaster and dangerous techno-demon claws makes for exciting combat and the game’s platforming is complex but rewarding. Rooms alternatively feel like big battle arenas or exploration filled puzzle boxes.
Exodemon is a powerful nostalgia bomb that recalls titles like Quake or Descent. For me, it brings back memories of watching my cousin play computer games before clumsily trying to stumble through the levels myself.
The game has been greenlit on Steam but a free demo is available for all major operating systems. It is easy to pick up and play for a quick half hour session of blasting, slashing, and unearthing old memories.
Each week, I show off a new, affordable indie game using the tag “Heather’s Indie Pick.”
