For around a year now, EA has had a system in place where users reprimanded for their conduct in an online arena - whether that be multiplayer games or forums - were punished by losing access to their singleplayer games as well.
It was a ridiculous measure, and whether it was intentional or just the result of poor design, the company's unwillingness to explain the issue to the media only made things worse.
Well, things are now slightly better, as a recent update to Origin's "offline" mode means those suspended or banned from multiplayer games can now at least access singleplayer content. Which, you know, given they paid for the games, they should always have had.
While this fixes things for those being assholes in a multiplayer game, it doesn't seem to apply to those with forum bans, meaning it's a problem that's still only half-solved.
