The PlayStation 5 console generation will be Sony’s last with a physical format attached to it. The company is ending discs in 2028 around the time the PS6 launches. It sucks. But if you’re one of the people mourning the loss of physical games, the good news is that you can currently get some of Sony’s recent PS5 exclusives in disc form for much cheaper than usual.
Sales are going on across Amazon, Best Buy, and other retailers right now to compete with the PlayStation Store summer sale. That means that many physical games are getting discounted alongside their digital counterparts, including some of the most acclaimed first-party Sony games of the last decade:

- Horizon Forbidden West Complete – $30 (normally $50)
- Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut – $30 (normally $60)
- Ghost of Yotei – $55 (normally $70)
- Death Stranding Director’s Cut – $50 (normally $70)
- Death Stranding 2 – $40 (normally $70)
- Days Gone – $20 (normally $40)
- Spider-Man: Miles Morales – $20 (normally $50)
- Spider-Man 2 – $30 (normally $70)

This includes even this year’s Saros, the latest bullet heaven rogulite shooter from Housemarque. But lots of GOTY-contenders from the past are also steeply discounted right now. Death Stranding 2, which came out last summer and is only a year old, is a good price at $40, and Spider-Man 2 is just $30 ahead of the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. If you’re willing to get the PS4 versions of some of these games, they’re even cheaper.
As players have been repeatedly reminded in recent years, digital games can be more convenient, but they’re also less permanent. With Sony pulling the plug on physical games in less than two years, we’re coming up on some of the last chances to own tomorrow’s classics in a disc that will stay playable long after whatever happens to Sony servers. The company has said it will allow publishers of existing PS5 games to continue to have discs printed of them, but who knows how long they’ll decide to do that.
