Headphones that boast thumping bass and excellent treble

Beats has done most of its engineering work on these in the custom acoustic platform. Each driver was designed to maintain clarity at high volume, and Beats reports up to 80% less distortion than the Studio3. That digital processor gives you a sound profile with weight, but it still pulls out all the little details from whatever you’re playing.

Adaptive Noise Cancellation continuously tracks the sounds around you and generates an adaptive filter based on what it detects. That way, a plane cabin and a busy street can each generate their own settings, instead of using one setting for every environment.

When you need to hear announcements at airport gates or understand another person’s speech, press the button on the ear cup. The ear cup switches to Transparency mode. Once you have heard what you need, press the button again to return to noise cancellation.

The battery will last about 40 hours without noise cancellation. Using either Transparency or noise cancellation will reduce battery life to about 24 hours. If that’s long enough for your daily commute, Fast Fuel has your back on mornings you forget to charge, since 10 minutes on the cable gives you about 4 hours of playback.

You can connect the Studio Pro in three ways. Class 1 Bluetooth lets you connect wirelessly, the 3.5mm jack lets you connect to older devices, and USB-C provides lossless digital audio. Through USB-C, you also get access to two extra equalizer settings, Entertainment for movies and Conversation for voice, alongside the Beats Signature tuning.

Personalized Spatial Audio and head tracking will be available on your Apple devices, and the Beats app on Android will handle personalization and firmware updates. Multipoint supports two devices simultaneously, so your laptop and your phone will both remain linked.

The Beats Studio Pro is currently priced at $150, down from its retail price of $350. It comes in a box with the carrying case, plus both the 3.5mm cable and the USB-C cable. The overall build is made of UltraPlush leather with metal sliders, giving it a total weight of 9.17 ounces.
