You’re right. But CD Projekt Red has been called out for some troubling stances on race and transmisogyny before. We can hope that this is some incisive and cutting cultural commentary, but asking these questions is valid given CDPR’s past mistakes. I like CDPR, and I want to love this game, and putting pressure on Read more

I think it’s a ‘death by a thousand cuts’ thing. Combined with the blatant stereotypes folks previewing the game have called out and their history of anti-trans messaging (purposeful or not) folks assumed the worse.

I guess a big glossy commercial product “satirizing” big glossy commercial products qualifies as an artistic statement. It’s just a very banal and obvious one. But we’re talking about a video game here, what do you expect? Read more

I LOVE this in theory, even if it feels more like proof of concept than anything. My (hopeful) assumption is that they dropped this out here so that the people working on the next Assassin’s Creed can be taking notes and incorporating something more robust into the next iteration. From a lore perspective, I think Read more

Not bad, but I believe the General did it with a bit more style.

From the looks of it, there was no third job because of how many changes are being done to the other classes. Machinist looks like an entirely different class (the Edgar class, if you will). Read more

Super cool! I always appreciate how speedrunners wring so much extra fun out of the games they love. Like a meta-game on top of the game, built around an enthusiastic community all helping each other and competing at the same time. It's not for me, but I appreciate its weird beauty. Read more

Vaulting the pump shotgun is also highlighting the disconnect between the recreational player base and the small, but powerful, minority of the competitive players/streamers. A lot of the Fortnite pros are disappointed with the vault because the pump is such a viable endgame weapon (as you pointed out in the article). Read more

I like this essay. I remember as a kid I would purposefully set the controller on a table and do nothing to see if the game had an idle animation. Personal favorite is always gonna be Mario 64 where Mario falls asleep and starts mumbling various types of pasta.

I mean, Balmung needed opening. You have people like me who really want to get into RP, but live in a server with no RP community to speak of (Diabolos, which is weird since we have A Stage Reborn). Honestly I'm looking forward to RP leveling with my best friend on there. Read more
