I logged on after over a year of exile specifically to say that this is one of the most bad faith reads of an article I’ve seen on this site.

At least I never used the word florid.
Wow, Luke, I can’t believe that you and you alone (and not any other site who wrote about this before your shift) are responsible for Nintendo tossing the port maker into Emulation Jail.
He’s not a ratdog.
Kingdom Hearts isn’t confusing though. (The bigger problem with that series is that there’s too many games spread out on too many platforms. That doesn’t seem like it’ll be an issue here.”
Haha! Good point! That’s true but I think these folks have a good track record! I frankly think that FFX is maybe the most coherent game in the series (though not my favorite) and Kitase was on that with Nojima as writer. So I’m willing to see where this leads.
Battle’s over; they lost. “The Unknown Journey Will Continue.” Some of it will look the same (maybe we can’t completely fight Fate!) but we’re in new territory now. The game’s out. It’s done and folks will need to adjust to the reality of it.
I think the cynic in me, the part that worries deeply about remakes and… Read more
Kazushige Nojima is the scenario writer here and one of the script writers as well. You might know him from one of his other works where he was scenario designer and writer: Final Fantasy VII.
You might also know Tetsuya Nomura from another work he was a writer(and character designer) on called Final Fantasy VII.

I really appreciate this comment and I’m glad you got something out of this And don’t worry about the whole “I don’t always agree” thing; if folks agreed with everything I wrote, my job would be really boring!
It’s like writing a grad paper or something really. I’ll do a full stream of the game on Twitch so I can have that for reference. It’s also just essential to play a game a few times to let ideas form.
After that, it’s some script analysis and research on both the development history and any big pieces of writing about… Read more
It’s partially that! But even the stuff that I think folks might call the most excessive (say Death Stranding) tend to have some very smart stuff. Engaging with Kojima’s work has always been a balancing act.
And yet, I’m here to say that I think it’s Actually The Best One.
All non-essential personnel, report to the holds in 10 minutes time for the scheduled briefing session with the Commandant. You are ordered to continue manning your posts until that time.
For what it’s worth, the tech folks are aware of it now!
I have literally no control over this but I will surely continue to push for mute as default for sure.
If there’s any game in the series that really doesn’t need remake treatment, that’s the one. And honestly, I’d rather get a new entry with a stronger identity (ala RE7) than a souped up version of anything else. Of the three most recent Resident Evil games, that’s been by far the most interesting of the bunch.
The original is pretty brisk! This isn’t as long as the RE2 Remake though, which took me maybe about 12-14 hours the first time. Some of that’s general pacing, some of that’s just because I’ve been playing “modern” Resident Evil games at a pretty much yearly basis since working here.
After an initial playthrough,… Read more
Yeah, it sounds funny to say with a Doom game but I wish I knew what Doom Eternal wanted to do with its story. The Heavy Metal vibe is cool but ultimately fizzles out once the big reveals happen. It’s hard to know what the point of it all is, which is really frustrating.
Remember when they’re like “oh dang, you’re… Read more
I certainly think higher difficulty settings make things fall into place more. There’s way more incentive to use your kit to the fullest where that doesn’t always happen in the lower tiers.
I’m eager to play this on PC! Having faster weapon changing will probably feel like a godsend.
