The original is pretty brisk! This isn’t as long as the RE2 Remake though, which took me maybe about 12-14 hours the first time. Some of that’s general pacing, some of that’s just because I’ve been playing “modern” Resident Evil games at a pretty much yearly basis since working here.

Yeah, it sounds funny to say with a Doom game but I wish I knew what Doom Eternal wanted to do with its story. The Heavy Metal vibe is cool but ultimately fizzles out once the big reveals happen. It’s hard to know what the point of it all is, which is really frustrating.

I certainly think higher difficulty settings make things fall into place more. There’s way more incentive to use your kit to the fullest where that doesn’t always happen in the lower tiers.

I’m eager to play this on PC! Having faster weapon changing will probably feel like a godsend.  Read more

I’m gonna stream a bit later today, if that possibly helps give a clearer idea of things. Read more

By the end of the game, I was a pretty furious whirlwind of death. I think it starts deliberate but really breaks open. This is Team Ninja, so they know how to make good combat. And for as much as I really love Sekiro, I actually like combat more in Nioh. Read more

I found it a bit more streamlined. I never felt a need to circle around to extra loot, since a lot of areas on maps (particularly the yokai infested dark realms) have chests with really good stuff. Gear makes a difference but it’s pretty easily attainable.

I’ve seen a few folks mention this, yeah. I definitely don’t think that Jessie’s dialogue in the original imply something *this* deliberate by Shinra. I feel that’s very much a stretch. Read more

I think it depends on what you want. I think some people don’t want anything too drastically different. A graphics update and voice acting, maybe a bit more depth to the boss battles. Other folks? This is the flash and action that they crave, a modern version of something they love. Or even a first chance to enjoy Read more

Wrong kind of “lock on,” friend.

I’m working on the next part of the Metal Gear retrospective. It’s taken a lot of script reading and gameplay, along with the writing.  Read more

Some stuff got jumbled in edits when I wasn’t looking. S’grappling hook that matters here.  Read more

Partially but I also just needed a change of pace for a turn-based thing. Dragalia’s got all the fast-paced stuff, so Dissidia seemed a good complementary game. Read more

All my friends are playing it right now but I made the leap from FFRK to Dissidia finally, so I can’t really pick up another game ATM. Read more

As someone who is writing exhausting retrospectives on Metal Gear I will 100% concede it is a mess. (But not necessarily a terribly story.) Read more

Pretty sure the people who studied and when to med school to do that stuff are doing that stuff. Read more
