Number scores are a whole big discussion in and of themselves. Needless to say, nothing is perfect and I’m very pleased that Kotaku does not use numbers in reviews.

After for whether or not tech issues should detract from a score, I’m unsure about that. If only because (as I say in the video) sometimes they do no harm Read more

I’m always eager to know what captured players’ imaginations back in the day. These stories are so interesting. At the time, the energy surrounding these myths was so electric! Read more

I’m guessing this Shugoki never got your memo.

Final Fantasy Record Keeper’s sound design for relic draws is downright sinful. The anticipatory music as Dr. Mog summons the orb, the magical chirping as the orbs are summoned, the mixture of a striking blow and explosion hitting as the relics are pulled. To say nothing of the celebratory fanfare when you get to your

Jumping in to stress, if there are those who wish to argue it, that this is not “criticism.” Criticism is measured and well considered. Criticism makes an argument. Criticism makes a case. Criticism comes from a position of good faith and respect. Read more

A fine question, Riley. While I am still working on Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest and hope to start The Blazing Blade shortly after that, I am using my time this weekend to play through Nier: Automata which is a game that is far too good to be true. Read more

I haven’t played Horizon but it looks much more like a later Far Cry title. This feels a bit more like Far Cry 2. Close, observable systems making for surprising combat. Pretty game world as well. Really enjoyed it. Read more

FFRK is my other mobile vice, although I’ve not played as much lately. The addition of multiplayer is really cool but I find it a bit harder to sit down with Record Keeper compared to Heroes. Especially if I’m going to do any Ultimate battles. Read more

This is my current roster. My five orb summoning luck has been astoundingly good. Lucina, Lyn, Takumi, and Robin for arena.

As the update rolls forward, I’ll give some focus to the new systems. Skill Inheritance is nice and gives you a chance to boost up units. I wish I knew about it sooner. I had an extra Takumi that I dismissed so I could get feathers to promote my Robin to five stars. Read more

I’ve only finished Awakening and am about 30 hours into Conquest. I was thinking of Blazing Blade as a change of pace before Revelations but I thiiink I’m leaning towards Sacred Stones. Read more
