You Should Be Playing The Brutal City Builder Frostpunk
If you had told me months ago that a city builder about the remnants of 19th century England trying to survive the next ice age would sell hundreds of thousands of copies in its first week on Steam, I’d have guessed you were hallucinating from hypothermia. But that’s exactly what Frostpunk did, and after spending…

Slay The Spire’s New Character Is Great
Months after it first hit Steam Early Access I still enjoy dropping into Slay the Spire to see what cards I’m dealt in its procedurally generated dungeon runs. With the addition of its newest character, The Defect, I can see myself returning a lot more often. Developer Mega Crit Games has been working on Slay…

Far Cry 5, One Month Later
Far Cry 5 has been out for a month. Its big open world based in a fictional Montana has been picked clean by millions of people. What Someone Who Spent 1,800 Hours In The Witcher 3 Actually Did
The Witcher 3 is a sprawling single-player RPG with so much to do it can be overwhelming. The game world is huge. Points of interest litter the map. Dialogue trees mean you can play through pivotal scenes in different ways. I can think of far worse games to be stuck on a desert island with…

Someone recreated Super Mario Odyssey’s New Donk City in Minecraft. They built it using the base version and the whole thing took about three weeks. While the scale and scope is impressive, the pixel art-adorned buildings are the best part. You can see the whole thing in more detail over on Imgur.Â

Switch Hackers Say Nintendo Can’t Patch Their New Jailbreak
This week, two hacking groups have independently released methods that allow a user to jailbreak the Switch, which one group is already using to run a ported version of Linux on Nintendo’s device. The worse news for Nintendo—the hackers say the exploit is due to a bug in the system’s processor chip, meaning that Nintendo…

The Demonic Strategy Game I Love Playing Before Bed
Golem Gates is a surprising mix of strategy and card game elements that’s beautiful to look at but rough around the edges. While I started playing it because of its weird hybrid mechanics, what I really came to appreciate was its serenely empty world and relaxing ASMR voice overs I commute long hours and often…
