I’m kinda the opposite in that respect, I’m usually not bothered by an older iteration of the gameplay - for me it’ll either hold up or it won’t (been playing Demon’s Souls lately and it’s still good ^_^). Read more

If it helps again, it’s also very reference lite. It’s set 10,000 years after the first start of the timeline and 100 years after a massive apocalyptic event.  Read more

Yeah. It seemed really weird that the big name star they got for the game voices what turns out to be a rather insignificant character, but considering how much “gusto” he gave those lines it’s probably for the best.  Read more

I met him! A couple times. But the first big event I covered for Kotaku was his keynote speech at TGS in which he unveiled the Wiimote. Later, I spotted him in a hotel lobby, and he pulled the Wiimote out of his pocket and handed it to me. I guess I was one of the first members of the press to get hands on with it? It Read more

Looking forward to the pivot* from “you liberal pussies stop being afraid and go out and live life!111 Covid has a survival rate of 99999999999999999%” to “ZOMG SEE VACCINES ARE dAnGeRoUs” Read more

Thank you very much-good luck to you on that goal as well! I figure I can have a better balance when the kids go off to college and I retire. :) Read more

I asked this very question some time ago. Someone told me this in response. Read more

I may never get around to playing that first game in any sort of timely fashion, and in the meantime sequels start to pile up. Why haven’t I played Skyrim yet? Well you see, I gotta give Oblivion a shot first. It looks totally blandsville and I’m not excited for it but hey, I don’t make the rules. My brain does. Read more

Yeah I dug the hell out of Rage. My only gripe is that once you cleared out a "dungeon" it stayed clear. So the more of the game you beat the more barren the world becomes. I just wanted to be able to go back to zones and clear them all over again because it was so satisfying. I played Rage 2 before the pandemic. It Read more

I played the original Rage when it came out, and actually quite liked it, mostly because, at the time, thanks to its graphics engine, the game was really quite immersive, and the weapons felt great. Not sure how it fares today, though... Read more

Yeah, I get very impatient in this regard. Every character in games takes thirty seconds to say something that a normal person would say in ten seconds, and that I can read in five seconds. Read more

Same here, but with slouching. I look like the hunchback of Notre Dame when I’m playing anything. Read more

I’m a big fan of the oh no, she’s hot! redraw of that. Read more

I have virtually no patience for any cutscene anymore. It’s weird because I remember when you’d play through every character in Tekken just to see their weird cutscene as the reward. Now everything feels done to death. “Oh it’s another zombie story but with, uh, minotaurs or something? Great, let’s mash every button Read more

Perhaps the creator can raise money from it another way. I wonder if Bad Dragon are receptive to external applications. Read more

So many times I’ve thought “why did you make it so I could get stuck here and have to reset, you HAD to know I would try this?!” Read more

I procrastinate on finishing games AND I often do the running commentary. Does this make me a bad person? / Read more

I’m with you on the “sinking way too much time into sidequests and then burning out” one. I’m an absolute completionist when it comes to games, so your average Ubisoft map-completer always runs out of steam for me with plenty of plot left once the side stuff starts getting rote (i.e., generally immediately). Counterpoint: There was zero charm in the original Space Jam. It’s unwatchable. Read more
