@Neko_Tech: I always thought PS1 games looked worse on PC... Maybe i just don't use the right plugins? I've played FFT and Chrono Cross and FF8, and they all looked worse on PC than playing on the PS3 / PS2 #godofwarcollection
having never played either, im excited to get my grubby mits on this game when it drops. the GoW3 demo is the cherry on top.
ive only heard awesome things about this franchise, so im looking forward to locking my self for a weekend and just throwing myself into these games, and hopefully come out with a couple of trophies... and my mind blown away :) #godofwarcollection
My HDTV made GOW 1 & 2 look muddy. Kratos for example looked blotchy. I was running the PS2 with component cables at the time and GOW2 in progressive scan 480p. It still looked crummy.
I welcome these remastered editions. It's a nice way to preserve these classic games for modern TVs. If anything for prosperity sake. #godofwarcollection
@Orionsaint: "remastered" is kind of the wrong word to use.
"upscaled" is more accurate.
"remastered" refers to modifying the source to improve the final product.
All they've done here really is made the display resolution HD and added Trophies, all the textures, models and maps are the same as the PS2 games. #godofwarcollection
It's looking mighty smooth...! Would love to replay these two entirely, they were some of the most satisfying games everrr! The story was unmatched! Chains of Olympus was brilliant also! #godofwarcollection
Huh, PS3 is just a tad cleaner looking. I wish they were comparing GoW1 as I'm sure that might show a better difference in the two. Oh well, guess I'll stick to my PS2 copies on my 60gig=P #godofwarcollection
@Aurangzeb: Ack, I guess it would help if I clicked on the source=P @GohanGVO: Yep, just saw that on IGN as well. I could definitely tell a more crispness in the graphics while watching the videos. #godofwarcollection
Where's coverage of questions from investment fund operators during the profit report? Haven't listened to it yet myself, but from summaries I read on some threads concerning the subject it seems a fair number of questions pertinent to SCE... er, Networked Products & Services Division, were thrown out there. #ps3
So, the PSP sales dropped by .2 million which could probably be seen as a knock-on effect of the global economy right now (or an effect of a nearly non-existent marketing campaign). The PS2 dropped .6 million because it's old and at this stage most people have one...or two and PS3 sales were up because of the price cut (a great motivator in this economy).
I've noticed no deterioration in profitability in the game business and VAIO PCs are just been priced out of the market.
Sonys problems with the PSP can be solved with increased marketing of both the games on the system and the system/s itself, in otherwords, take a page out of Nintendo's book.
PS2 should not be looked at for profitability at this point now, instead they should offer (for a price) a software emulator for the PS3 and start getting PS2 games up on PSN.
As far as the PS3 goes, they've just got to keep and expand on the strong exclusive line-up they have this Q4.
@-MasterDex-: There is excuses and there is informing stock holders. Some times Kotaku covers stuff that really isn't meant for the mass consumer.
The strong yen has wrecked a lot of stuff (including my bank account. owww.) and really cannot be forgotten.
As for VAIOs, on Buzz Out Loud they were discussing that last quarter the only type of PC that had growth was the netbook, everything else was reporting lower earnings. VAIO clearly needs to be turned into a cheaper netbook line! Sure some VAIO PCs are the size of the netbook but the cost... yeesh. #ps3
@forgecat: This. 99% of gamers really should not try to understand or talk about the business world, it will Just lead to them either A) hurting themselves, or B) making themselves look stupid. This is simply a business announcement to the stockholders of Sony.
VAIO does need to be dropped in prices. Their charging Apple pricess when they don't have an Apple following. #ps3
@forgecat: @Ryan_the_D: I was saying "I love hearing excuses" fully aware that this was a report to the stockholders.
@forgecat: The strong yen has had an effect on things but it doesn't change the fact that much of what Sony told the stockholders was twisted words and lies intended to get the stockholders to keep their shares.
@Ryan_the_D: The VAIO does need to be dopped in price as can be seen in this report, it ain't selling and it ain't selling because it's priced out of it's intended market. Sony aren't trying to compete with Apple with the VAIO, Apple are targeting the young, fasionable and artisitc markets while Sony is targeting the business consumer and media-lovers. When HP and Dell have cheaper options that offer just as much if not more (minus bluray) then Sony has a problem. Forgecat hit the button when he said "VAIO clearly needs to be turned into a cheaper netbook line".
@-MasterDex-: I get where you are coming from but "twisted words and lies" is just another definition of statistics. You can analyze data to show pretty much anything you want when it comes to this kind of stock holders report. Without reference to the data Sony is using to say "lower overall revenue in games" we are basically just throwing are fists in the air and saying "lolwut?"
I am not saying you are wrong in anyway, just kind of saying Sony isn't as super crazy as we sometimes think they are. ... okay well the are but I hope you get what I mean! #ps3
@forgecat: Don't get me wrong, I'm not damning them in anyway, they've got to keep their stockholders happy, no matter the excuses they use.
Like I said, I love hearing excuses. It's funny to hear some of the stuff that people concoct to explain themselves. My comment was merely about some of my opinions on what it all really meant. #ps3

It's a good thing that God of War is a fun game regardless, as long it's not worse than the original then I have no beef.
It better not have any slow downs what so ever for being underpowered.
