Did you know that February was Responsible Pet Owners Month? Nintendo's marketing team does, and they've spared no expense in securing someone else's pet to help sell nintendogs + cats for the 3DS.
Uggie is a talented Jack Russell terrier that many will recognize as the four-legged co-star of The Artist. His is a tale (tail) of great personal triumph, having been rescued from the pound by animal trainer Omar Von Muller at an early age. His fortunes turned and he made his responsible owner hundreds of thousands of dollars by acting in commercials and movies.
He is, reportedly, a very good dog. Yes, yes, who's a good boy? He is.
He's also the official spokesdog for nintendogs + cats. He'll be personally responsible for teaching players how the lessons learned in Nintendo's virtual pet game can be put into practice in real life.
As of this writing there is no official spokescat. Specists.
The most entertaining thing about this new spokesdog is the ridiculous things it makes Nintendo executive vice president of sales and marketing, Scott Moffitt, say in the official announcement.
"Uggie didn't have to sit up and beg for his role as Nintendo's spokesdog. It's truly our pleasure to work with a star of Uggie's magnitude, especially to help animal lovers and portable gaming fans discover the fun of nintendogs + cats."
It kinda makes me wish there was an accompanying video of Moffitt delivering the line, perhaps with a wink to the camera and a cartoon tooth sparkle.
