EA Being Taken to Court Over Broken Battlefield Promise

EA promised PS3 owners a free copy of Battlefield 1943 when they picked up Battlefield 3. When they didn't come through, they upset a lot of gamers, both for the bait-and-yank and for the shoddy manner with which it was announced. And they might have got away with it, too, if it wasn't for those darned lawyers. More »

Saints Row: The Third: The Kotaku Review

Saints Row: The Third is a celebration of the player's ego and of his or her power—it's a joyous, wholehearted embrace of the "you" as it applies to video games. Who is the most important person in the world? You are! Who gets all the toys? You do! Indulge yourself, this game tells us. Stop tripping. The world's ours. More »

Should You Buy Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3: Defiance? No.

This week, all the attention's going the big-boy versions of Modern Warfare 3. But there's a DS game, too. This version exists only as part of Activision's strategy to carpet-bomb their games onto every platform possible. Rockstar's Dan Houser Teases Bully Sequel, Max Payne 3 DLC

Lots of people loved Jimmy Hopkins, the squinty-eyed protagonist of Rockstar's Bully. The academic open-world title didn't set the kinds of records that a Grand Theft Auto game does but it's remained a favorite in the hearts of many gamers. In an interview with Gamasutra's Chris Morris, Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser teases that a Bully follow-up is one the things that the developer's juggling in its schedule. More »

Better Red than Dead in Cosmonauts

There was this old hippie at a newspaper I once worked for, a guy who took a great interest in any New York Times obituary of a prominent Russian. He was your basic-as-bread conspiracy theorist, convinced the Soviets put a human—well, a human body, anyway—on the dark side of the moon.
