The Wizard, a 1989 movie starring Fred Savage, was little more than a 100-minute commercial for Nintendo.

Surf Ninjas, a 1993 movie starring Ernie Reyes, Jr., Rob Schneider, Leslie Nielsen (doing his best M. Bison impersonation) and Tone Loc, was much the same for Sega's Game Gear handheld. Only it was way better.

The film is about surf ninjas tormenting, and occasionally kidnapping, a family of surfers from LA. And the Game Gear, believe it or not, is central to the movie's plot. One of the kids in the family discovers that as he plays a game called Surf Ninjas on his Game Gear, whatever he achieves in-game is reflected in the real world.

So, yeah, this movie is about surf ninjas, who are defeated by a real ninja, who is assisted by a kid kicking everyone's ass in a video game. On his Game Gear.

Please note the movie has Tone Loc in it. As an actor. It also stars a very young Rob Schneider, who looks so much like Eminem that it's a little terrifying.

See above for video evidence. Watching the entire thing is an awesome way to waste a night.
