Ah, yes. Summer time. The beach. Watermelon. And money.
With the sour economy not every Japanese company hands out summer bonuses to its employees, but this year the average bonus is up a slight 0.75 percent over the previous year. This is the first time in three years that the average summer bonus has increased for the country's workers.
For the second consecutive year, employees at Nintendo are getting the highest paid bonuses in Japan. Due to things like the strong yen, Nintendo's profit forecasts are down, and the company's summer bonuses are a pinch lower than they were last year.
It's not uncommon for Japanese workers to get the equivalent of anywhere from $4,000 to $8,000 (or more) for their summer bonuses. Obviously, execs would get a larger share of that summer bonus pie! Mmm pie.
