Re: What Do You Do When You Forget Someone's Name?
The answer to that note's question will be answered on August the 11th at 4:00 PM Pacific Daylight Time. Wait, that's now.
Typically, I refer to people whose name I have forgotten as "Hey!" or "Man." As in, "Hey, what's up, man?!" My tactic is to mask my confusion or lack of confidence in remembering someone's name with genuine enthusiasm, letting them know that I'm glad to see them, but I can't refer to them by their given name at that moment. Luckily, I often get to speak with these people at events where they're forced to wear ID badges. I'll distract them by pointing at a bar or other person during which time I'll steal a glance at their badge.
I need a better system.
