Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire were released back in November 2003 on the Game Boy Advance. The remakes, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, are bringing that world back to life this year on the 3DS—and when compared to the originals, we can see just how much better the modern games look.

Here's a fantastic image by Redditor YouDontKnowThisUser that takes new screenshots of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, and pairs them up next to old screenshots. The original games didn't look bad by any means, but damn, the remakes are looking hot. The comparison shots also illuminate just how much the games have improved, visually speaking, over the years.
