Western Studios are Helping Finish The Last Guardian

Team Ico's The Last Guardian, the studio's first game since Shadow of the Colossus, has hit a bit of a rough patch. It's been delayed a few times, key people have left the company, it's a mess.

To help get it done and out the door, Sony has drafted in outside help from some of its other first-party studios. Interestingly, those studios aren't from Japan, they're from Europe and the United States.

Asked by Wired to confirm a rumour that Sony Santa Monica (God of War) was pitching in on the project, Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida replied "Well, you know, it's not just Santa Monica. We have great tech people in Worldwide Studios. We have a central tech group in the U.S. and the U.K. so we are giving them whatever help they need. Technically, we have the best engineers in the U.S. and Europe, so these teams are helping them, giving advice."

I don't care if they call in studios from Mars, so long as this game gets finished.

This game is the next Duke Nukem Forever and it has been for years. It's been on the top of dozens of those stupid, arbitrary "most anticipated" lists even though not a goddamn thing is known about the game, save for the fact that it involves some manner of inter-species relationship between a little boy and a gryphon (which haven't been all that magical ever since gryphons became the standard fantasy taxi cabs in the video game realm.)

There's no fucking way that the actual product will ever live up to the contrived, anticipatory speculation that everyone has come up with since it was announced. It doesn't matter which studio finishes it, that fact won't change.
