Total Recall is Kotaku's nightly look back at the history of video games. Think you know where video games come from? You might know a little, but our aim with Total Recall is to dig a little deeper and shine a light on some of the more bizarre and interesting elements of this medium's past.
If you want to learn about the history of Nintendo, go read a book. If you want to watch Japan's 1986 Super Mario Bros. anime, though, or see a 1970's French movie that looks just like a video game, learn how giant alien dicks sold a Space Invaders pinball game and find out why arcade legend Mr. Awesome appears not once but twice in Playgirl magazine, well, Total Recall might be for you.
Every Monday through Thursday Luke Plunkett will be looking at the decades spanning the 1960s until around ten years ago, while on Friday nights Kirk Hamilton treads the more familiar waters of games too old to be news, but not yet old enough to be classics.
To your right, you'll see a list of the most recent Total Recall stories from Kotaku, with the latest appearing at the top. New pieces will appear between 11pm and Midnight Eastern, Mon-Fri.
