We usually salute the best in cosplay craftsmanship (or craftswomanship!) here on Fancy Pants. Or the best in photography, or modelling. It's not often we salute the best in ideas. So let's change that today.
Reader Dan sent along these shots of his Super Metroid outfit. It's two-dimensional. And I don't mean that in a bad way.
You may have seen Dan's costume at events earlier this year, but if you haven't, know that it's a pair of 2D "standees" of sort that can be strapped to both sides of the body. From the front the wearer looks like a monster, but from the side, you get one of the sweetest retro effects a cosplay outfit could ever hope for.
The best part? There's now a villainous counterpart to the costume, Metroid's Chozo recreated using the same style.
You can see more shots of Dan's work on his DeviantArt site. Also, look out for a photoshoot that'll be appearing in an upcoming issue of Nintendo Power!

Fancy Pants is a look at the world of cosplay (costume play), where people dress up as their favorite video game characters. Sometimes it works! Sometimes it...yeah.
