Last night, the United States’ midterm elections wrapped with the Democratic party flipping the Senate and House of Representatives, as well as typically red states like Texas voting blue, and candidates from historically underrepresented communities being voted into seats of power. While MAGA spent the hours before the election posting about how literal despot Darth Vader was the ideal, it turns out that is probably not the best strategy for getting the average voter to turn up for you.
Though there is still a lot of work to be done, I think the average non-fascist has plenty to celebrate and lib out about. Elections are serious matters that we often post our way through because we gotta get whatever anxiety and elation we’re feeling out somehow. Plus, when so much media we watch, read, play, and listen to is so often about taking down the corrupt and unjust, the memes and narratives all map onto our experiences pretty well when fascism takes a blow.
