Meet Kotaku‘s New Staff Writer, Gita Jackson

Last week, Kotaku recently added a new member to our staff: the wonderful Gita Jackson. Gita’s a prolific writer who has written for Giant Bomb, MTV, and worked her butt off as assistant editor of Paste Magazine’s comedy and games sections. I sat down to talk with her so you could get to know a…

One Year Later, Those Two Perma-Permadeath Games Aren’t Doing So Great [UPDATE]

Last year, I covered two different games with an awesome (and also terrifying) central conceit: if you die, you can never play again. Upsilon Circuit and One Life both touted forms of perma-permadeath. People loved the idea. My two posts were viewed nearly 1.5 million times. Unfortunately, those games have hit some nasty bumps on…

Still no Smash Mouth 🙁

Someone Hacked Missingno Into A Modern Pokémon Game

Missingno was never supposed to exist; it was a glitch monster that could appear in Red and Blue only under special circumstances. Despite being a mishap, even now, twenty years later, fans still love and remember Missingno. While Game Freak may never bring Missingno back, VGMoose went ahead and modded Missingno into Pokémon Omega Ruby…

Initial impressions of The Division’s game-overhauling 1.4 patch: So, I bumped the new “world tier” global difficulty level up to three (of four), and the second grunt I killed dropped an orange item. Not bad.

Doom’s newest multiplayer pack, Hell Followed, is now available on the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC for $14.99. It contains three new maps, additional weapons, and adds the ability to play as a Cacodemon.

Pokémon Sun and Moon Shows Us Red and Blue As Adults

Red and Blue, the original trainers from the first Pokémon games, are reappearing in Pokémon Sun and Moon. It’s been 20 years since we first saw them—how have they changed since then? In Red and Blue, Red served as a silent protagonist while Blue attempted to thwart him at every turn. While Red was your…

Battleborn‘s Latest Hero Has A Cool Origin Story

There’s a very good reason Battleborn’s latest hero, Kid Ultra, looks like a children’s toy. He technically is. According to his profile on the Battleborn website, Kid Ultra wasn’t created for combat, but rather for childcare. The first of a new line of robotic servants, Kid Ultra was created with a host of family-friendly features,…

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories Made Horror Personal

When I first heard the original Silent Hill was getting a “reimagining” from Climax Studios, I groaned, thinking it was an attempt at a cash grab. I initially didn’t bother playing Silent Hill: Shattered Memories because no Silent Hill had been up to the quality of the first three (and, to a lesser extent, the…

Join Kylo Ren and his Stormtrooper pals as they blow up a perfectly good sci-fi theme restaurant. While there’s a much better mission involving Kylo Ren and Captain Phasma included in…

Though we’ve seen nothing from Microsoft, Gearbox or 2K mentioning any sort of special offer, Borderlands: The Handsome Collection is now available for free in the Microsoft Store. Weird. 15 Years Later, Neopets Is Full Of Ads And Lets You Wear Poo

I recently logged into my old Neopets account for the first time in over a decade. It required the recovery of my username, my password, my old email account and my old email account’s password. It was a lot of work. My Christmas JubJub was over 5500 days old and “dying”. There was 1090 Neopoints…
