Electronic Arts has signed up an Emmy-winning actor to put the pedal to the metal in an upcoming film adaptation of their Need for Speed franchise. Modern Combat 4 Probably Doesn’t Employ CRAP Technology
I am relatively sure lead artist Vince Coupal doesn’t say “technology called CRAP” in this first developer diary for Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour, but part of me wishes he had. Gameloft’s latest first-person shooter, coming this fall to iOS and Android, looks fine. Heck, it looks more than fine; that’s pretty gorgeous. It would…

Watch Borderlands 2‘s Mechromancer In Action
The first official trailer for Borderlands 2‘s newest playable class—the Mechromancer—shows off how versatile her three skill trees are. You can get a sense of the kind of play style you can mold Gaige towards, as well as how she looks in action. I already told you she feels great, but here she is backing…

Drawing Pokémon Based On Their Physical Descriptions Alone Is Harder Than It Sounds
Artist Noelle Stevenson has never played a Pokémon game first-hand. She has, however, accepted the challenge of drawing several of the combative pocket monsters, based solely on physical descriptions provided to her by friends and blog readers. It turns out, accurately describing a creature that looks a lot, but not quite, like a duck wearing…

Prey 2 Is In ‘Limbo,’ Designer Says [UPDATE]
You might be wondering what has happened to Prey 2, the delayed shooter that Bethesda was supposed to release this year. Rumors have suggested that maybe it was actually cancelled, that maybe developer Human Head Studios is no longer working on it, that maybe Bethesda has just given up. Well it’s not cancelled, according to…

This Pretty Much Sums Up How I’ve Been Playing Dishonored
I love sneak games, so when given the option I’ll try my best to successfully navigate games without setting off alarms or killing guards. But Dishonored all too often provokes me to kill every single damn living thing on the screen every once in a while, just like it has here for CplusGamers. After my…

I Like Girls Like Robots
Though I am her favorite male human, I’m pretty sure my wife would leave me in a heartbeep if the right robot came along. Adult Swim and Popcannibal’s Girls Like Robots is a painfully true game of love and logic. Logic puzzles have never been so cute, quirky and entertaining. Popcannibal takes the boring old…

This Is What It Looks Like When Disasters Strike In The New SimCity
There are those careful, obsessive builders (like my junior-high self) who disabled disasters, when possible, in our SimUtopias. Then there are those diabolical builders (like my high-school self) who delighted in bombarding their hapless SimHellholes with disaster after disaster. (My personal favorite was SimCity 2000‘s Monster.) So, what of disasters in the new SimCity? This…

It’s Like Pictionary, But With a Crappy Artist
I love art—adore it. Yet, I’m not very good at drawing. I wish I was better, and my lack of illustration talent is probably why I enjoy appreciating the work of others that much more. So going into today’s Gaming App of the Day, I could immediately identify with the game’s main character. That’s right,…

Some Gamers Are Really Pissed At EA For Screwing Up This Weekend [UPDATE: EA Responds]
This weekend, Electronic Arts accidentally gave away thousands of free games thanks to a discount coupon, rewarded to anyone who filled out their marketing survey, that would take $20 off any purchase of more than $20. Some crafty gamers figured out that they could use the coupon more than once, and they walked away with…

What Facebook is Playing This Week: In a World Without Zynga, Candy Crush Saga is King
Two straight weeks of FarmVille 2 being at the top of the daily active users Facebook game charts is plenty. This week I’m bending the laws of time and space to imagine a chart without Zynga—a chart in which Candy Crush Saga reigns supreme. It’s a silly concept, really. Without the success Zynga’s had in…

The Most Horrifying Thing You Could Ever Catch A Zombie Doing
Video spoilers …is pooping. From one of my favorite YouTubers—and in the spirit of zombie week—comes this short and sweet clip of a very…unique encounter with Left 4 Dead 2‘s tank. I never thought I’d feel bad for a zombie until now. There he was, minding his own business on a flushable porta potty when…

A Delightfully Melodic Take on the Monster Breeding Game
Thanks to the success of titles like Dragonvale you can’t swing a dead lizard without hitting a dozen games that feature mystical islands filled with magical creatures having sex with one another to create new magical creatures. Developer Big Blue Bubble has taken the sub-genre and made it into a musical. The familiar elements are…

The Incredibly Cute & Clever Cosplay of New York Comic-Con’s Last Two Days
If you weren’t careful, you could step over some of the cutest cosplayers attending this year’s New York Comic-Con. Take this little Spider-toddler in the shot above. She’s only 19 months old but kept her mask on like a real superhero. Off to a great start, I say. Take a gander at the other outfits…

Kotaku Timeline: Grand Theft Auto V
All video games have a history… a history of rumors and official statements, of leaks, of screenshots, of trailers and other things that excite us, confuse us or do both. So how do we get from the smallest hint of a new game to the real thing? What’s the journey? Today, we’re debuting something a…

The Places You’ve Been Playing Video Games…
Where have you been in the last few years? I don’t mean in the real world. I mean in that other world. The one where Skyrim’s customs officer checks your bags for juniper berries, or where amidst the rubble of a post-apocalyptic society someone found a working sticker machine. British artist AJ Hateley (who we’ve…
